Greetings

Jones Seattle library-1

Thank you for visiting. I am a teacher-librarian school library media specialist. I can be contacted via e-mail at adambenjones@yahoo.com

I am employed for my ninth year as the Head Librarian at Dhahran School (Saudi Aramco Expatriate Schools), where I have worked for the past 17 years. Our library is the heart of the school. It is where students and staff alike come to connect with others. I am the team leader for a dedicated team of three hard-working full-time staff, some part-time volunteers, and student helpers. We have a collection of 21,000 print books. In addition to our book collection, we have a robust green screen audiovisual studio in a dedicated room, a classroom for lessons, a piano, a closet full of audio-visual gear, and aeroponics gardening planters. I am the district librarian for our Sora OverDrive online library, which has 7,000 eBooks, 1,000 audiobooks, and 100 magazines and serves 3,500 students in five schools.

I previously taught seventh-grade Language Arts here for eight years. Our school district is part of a large international oil company, located in the Eastern province of Saudi Arabia. My students and their families come from all over the world to work, study, and live here. South Korea was my home while working at Seoul International School for four years, from 2004 to 2008. Before becoming a teacher I worked as a newspaper reporter and photographer for four years. I’ve taught a variety of English courses in grades 7 to 12 including U.S., British, and world literature, English as a Second Language, journalism, yearbook, and writing. I have advised learning labs, writing centers, a Model United Nations program, student council, newspaper, and a photography club, to name some of my extracurricular duties. Food, travel, photography, scuba diving, walking my retired K-9 black lab, and good conversations are some of my interests away from teaching.

The Dhahran School Welcome Back video features my current library and library staff at 0:50 – 0:57 and 1:56 – 2:00 play times:

Thanks for stopping by.

Sincerely,

Adam Jones
